5 Ways to find balance

Finding that equilibrium is probably one of the most difficult things to do in today’s world. We definitely live in an Information Age, where everywhere we turn there is something available to distract us.

And, being a mother on top of this while trying to manage a job is no simple task. We all feel it at some point - burnout. But we also know that there’s no place for that when trying to juggle all of these things. So, we turn to the things that make us feel good in the moment; the things that give us short-term satisfaction. TikTok, anyone?

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love jumping down a rabbit hole on TikTok or Instagram reels - admittedly there’s nothing better after a day of over-stimulation. But, I also know that this isn’t the best thing for me. It’s taken me many years to figure out what works for me when I’m feeling overwhelmed, so, I wanted to share five things with you that help me balance out my lifestyle.

  1. dO WHAT YOU LOVE

What is your hobby? Figure that out and make sure that you carve out time in your week to do the things you love. There’s a reason you love to do this thing, and being able to give yourself that time back is so incredibly important because you’re able to refill your cup before having to give again to those who depend on you. Make sure that you factor in self-care too!

  2. Say no

It’s okay to say no to things! Figure out what your limits are and make sure that you implement your boundaries. Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter won’t mind! You don’t have to do everything all the time. So, make sure that you protect your peace by saying no.

  3. Use a planner

I personally like to write things down because it helps me get my head around what I need to get done in the day. So, every day I write down a to-do list. It sounds simple, yes, but it’s also so effective. This especially helps if you easily forget like me.

  4. Move your body

I have found that when I move my body I feel so much better for it! I never leave the house for a run and come home again regretting it. Literally never. Endorphins are a powerful thing and have the ability to make any day brighter! Start small and set yourself small goals to reach each week. Trust me on this.

  5. Rant

Yes, that’s right. Rant and rave all you like and for as long as you need to. I most certainly do, and there’s nothing better than being able to talk to the people closest to me about things that I struggle with. The key in this is finding those people who you can trust and who will tell you the truth no matter what. Venting to people who don’t have your best interest at heart is a dangerous game to play.

So, set your boundaries and learn to say no! Oh, and vent all you want. There’s no need to be perfectly happy every minute of every day. Find balance in the chaos - you owe it to yourself.
